Before clocks ticked and calendars ruled our lives, there was Kronos (also spelled Cronus)—the OG Titan of Time ⏳.

Born of Gaia (Earth 🌍) and Uranus (Sky 🌌), Kronos was the youngest of the first generation of Titans. But don’t let “youngest” fool you—he was the boldest.⚔️

The Rise of Kronos

Uranus, fearing his children’s power, imprisoned them deep within Gaia’s womb. Gaia, not having it, crafted a sickle and urged her children to rebel.

Only Kronos stepped up.

He ambushed Uranus, wielded the sickle, and snip snip…castrated his father. From this act, the sky was freed, and Kronos became ruler of all the cosmos.👶👑

But prophecy haunted him: one of his children would overthrow him. So Kronos did what any paranoid super powerful dad might do….He swallowed his kids whole.

Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon all went down the hatch. But Zeus, the youngest, was hidden away and raised in secret. When Zeus came of age, he tricked Kronos into vomiting up his siblings (ew but yay!!), and together they overthrew him!! 🥳

Kronos was cast into Tartarus, the deep abyss of the underworld.
