🔥🛞 Ixion was king of the Lapiths in Thessaly. His lineage varies—some say he was the son of Ares and Perimele, others name Antion and Perimele. He married Dia, daughter of Deioneus, a noble Thessalian lord.

💍 The First Betrayal

Ixion promised Deioneus a bride price for Dia but refused to pay. When Deioneus stole Ixion’s horses in retaliation, Ixion invited him to a feast and murdered him by pushing him into a pit of burning coals. This made Ixion the first kin-slayer in Greek myth—a crime that polluted his soul and land.

⚖️ Divine Mercy

Shunned by mortals, Ixion was offered purification by Zeus, who brought him to Olympus. But instead of gratitude, Ixion lusted after Hera, queen of the gods.

☁️ The Cloud and the Centaur

Zeus created a cloud in Hera’s likeness—Nephele—and Ixion was tricked into coupling with it. From this union came Centauros, who fathered the centaurs, wild beings torn between instinct and reason.

Ixion boasted of seducing Hera. Enraged, Zeus cast him out and bound him to a fiery, winged wheel, spinning eternally across the heavens—a cosmic warning against betrayal, ingratitude, and illusion.
