🌒 Before he ever touched the Sun’s chariot, Phaethon was a boy with a wound.

And people mocked him for it!
They whispered that he was lying, that he wasn’t truly Helios’ son, that he was reaching above his station in life and that he must have been crazy.
So went searching.
He wanted truth! He wanted connection!! He wanted to know who he really was.❤️
When Phaethon finally found Helios, the Sun god embraced him with warmth so bright it nearly blinded him.🌞
In a moment of fatherly pride…. or perhaps guilt… Helios promised him anything. Phaethon asked for the one thing he shouldn’t have: to drive the chariot of the Sun.
He didn’t ask to prove himself to the world…..He asked to prove himself to himself …Phaethon yearned to fill the hollow place where doubt had lived too long!!
But, the horses were wild. The heat was unbearable.And in his haste… In his desperation to control what he wasn’t ready for ….He scorched the sky, froze the earth, and nearly unraveled creation.
Zeus struck him down.
From his ashes rose shimmering particles… the mythic birth of helium, the element of lift, lightness, and cosmic buoyancy.
